Current Status (July 10, 2026): Size: 97,083 acres (151 square miles). Containment: 28% (significant progress from 15%). Personnel: Nearly 2,000 firefighters assigned. Structures Lost: 851+ confirmed destroyed. Evacuations: Some areas being downgraded to pre-evacuation status. Relief for Evacuees: Fremont County: Multiple evacuation orders lifted Thursday-Friday. Pueblo County: Areas west of I-25, north of Cummings Street downgraded to pre-evacuation. Colorado City: Residents allowed to return home. The Damage Picture: Pueblo County: 185 homes, 4 commercial buildings confirmed destroyed. Custer County: Additional losses still being assessed. Satellite analysis suggests up to 780 structures may be lost across both counties. Weather Helps: Storms brought up to an inch of rain to parts of the fire Wednesday-Thursday, allowing firefighters to gain significant ground. More rain expected this weekend. "We're cautiously optimistic," said incident commanders. "The rain has been a game-changer."
